Celebrated from late January to early February, the festival highlights Ilocano customs through cultural performances, trade fairs, and various festivities, promoting both tradition and economic growth. The festival marks the creation of Ilocos Sur as a province in 1818, reinforcing the pride of its people in their history. It also plays a crucial role in preserving Ilocano culture, with traditional rituals, dances, music, and crafts being showcased. Additionally, local products and delicacies such as bagnet, Vigan longganisa, empanada, and abel Iloco are promoted through trade fairs, supporting local businesses. Kanawidan also boosts tourism and economic development, attracting visitors who contribute to the province’s economy. Various competitions, pageants, and sports events engage the youth, ensuring the continuity of Ilocano traditions. Valentines Day

Valentine's Day, on February 14, is all about celebrating love and connection. While it has roots in Christian and ancient Roman traditions, it's become a day to share affection, not just with romantic partners but also with friends and family. The day is named after Saint Valentine, who, according to one story, secretly married couples in defiance of an emperor's orders. Over time, it morphed into an opportunity for people to express love in different ways. On this day, people typically give heartfelt gifts like cards, flowers, and chocolates, but it’s not just about material things. It’s about showing someone you care, whether through a thoughtful message, a surprise gesture, or just spending time with them. It’s a reminder to appreciate those who bring joy into our lives and express those feelings openly. Whether it’s with a partner, family member, or friend, it’s all about showing love in whatever way feels right for you.

Community Based Research Journey

 Firstly, We were assigned to our respective groups, then after that me and my group mates brainstormed on what we could and should include in our Community Based Research and we also searched about some informations about our topic which is the Biological life: fauna

On Sunday (January 12, 2025) , we had no classes so we planned to go out and we went to our destination to conduct a research and  take some pictures of the views for tourism and Animals in Baluarte zoo.

We also interviewed some Tourists and Workers from BALUARTE Zoo. Some took pictures and some interviewed and I recorded our conversations which we may include to our CBR.

After we finish conducting our CBR we also spent our time as a group on feeding and took some pictures with the different types of animals there. 

After we make all our final decisions in making and conducting our CBR, we  decided to use CSS for our Research presentation and Finally we came to the last part of our CBR we successfully presented our Community Based Research to our fellow classmates and to our teacher. 

REFLECTION

 

In the third quarter, I learned a lot about HTML coding, HTML frames, and Community-Based Research (CBR). With HTML, I gained a solid understanding of the structure behind web pages and how to organize content using tags, attributes, and elements. I found working with HTML frames particularly interesting, as it taught me how to divide a web page into sections, allowing for better organization and user experience.

I have also encountered several challenges such as lacking time in doing the activities given. Me and my group mates also encountered many problems in conducting our research and in creating and fixing our webpage. In our lessons I had no problems with the activities and quizzes because I am already used to creating html files and ma’am had explained it thoroughly in html frames and html listing I've addressed these kind of problems by learning from my past mistakes and doing my activities in such a enough time and I also learn how to manage my time in order for me to do a lot of things such as doing my requirements and lackings in school.

Additionally, the CBR lesson gave me a deeper understanding of how research can be more impactful when it involves and benefits the community. I learned about the importance of engaging with local issues and people, making research not just academic, but a tool for social change. Overall, these lessons expanded my skills in both technical and social aspects, preparing me for practical applications in real-world scenarios.

Chinese New Year is celebrated by Filipinos due to the country's cultural and historical ties with China. The country's significant Chinese-Filipino population, known as "Tsinoys," contributes significantly to the economy and culture. The lunar new year is a time for family gatherings, honoring ancestors, and wishing for prosperity. As a public holiday, it features dragon dances, fireworks, and parades.

In the Philippines, Chinese New Year celebrations involves traditional activities. some example of these activities are lighting firecrackers or maybe fireworks during or before Chinese new year. Another is eating different kinds of traditional foods like lumpia and giving out red envelopes containing money to children. The celebration is a way to welcome in hope and new beginnings in the new year.
